Dedication Campaign

In Hebrew, Chanukah means dedication. The Columbia Jewish Congregation's Dedication Campaign takes place each year from the High Holy Days until Chanukah. Chanukah means dedication and this campaign allows us to rededicate ourselves to making sure the good works and services of our congregation can continue.

Did you know that your annual dues only cover 70% of the expenses of keeping CJC alive? For the rest, like most non-profit organizations, we depend on fund raising.

  • In the Book of Exodus we learn about the time when our people built the Tabernacle in the desert. At the direction of the Lord, Moses asked for "gifts of the heart," voluntary offerings to make the Tabernacle possible. The people gave so generously that Moses actually had to tell them to stop.

  • During our Dedication Campaign, we are looking for that kind of generous response from each of you. Our goal is 100% participation; please do your part!

One third of all money raised will go into the Long Term Fund to secure our congregation's future. The rest will support this year's programs and good works.

  • Whether you participate in CJC by learning in our educational programs for children or adults, helping others through our many tikkun olam projects, singing with our Choir, enjoying our informative Cultural Arts programs, joining discussions at Chavurah or Book Club, attending social events, or praying and meditating at our many meaningful Services, there's an important role for you to play in the campaign. When you need a shiva minyan, a meal for a sick relative or friend, a wedding, a baby naming, a funeral, or a hospital visit, CJC is there to support you.

  • Whether you are a child, a teen, a young parent, or an older member, we need your help now. Through our Dedication Campaign, we all have an opportunity to show that we are all committed to Columbia Jewish Congregation, and we ask for your donation at whatever level you can afford.

In addition to your pledge or as an alternative, consider becoming part of the "Arevim L'atid Group: Guarantors of the Future." Join this ongoing group of generous donors by pledging to donate a minimum of $360 above membership dues each year.

Please return your pledge form today. Make your tax deductible donation today or as soon as possible before December 1.

At our Dedication Campaign celebration in January, we will announce the amount we raised through this campaign and the names of our members who have contributed (no amounts will be disclosed.) We will enjoy our successful effort and look forward to our congregational future together.
