The Jewish calendar in the Spring each year offers us a unique opportunity to reflect on multiple sets of identities through the lens of Jewish learning about Purim, Passover, Yom HaShoah, and Yom Ha’Atzmaut. Join us as we take a look at selections from Rabbinic sources, Megillat Esther, the Haggadah, Yom HaShoah Haggadah, and Contemporary Israeli songs/poetry over the ages: to analyze the deeper connections among these holidays in particular; better understand the bridges and identity-marker patterns they create; as well as, to reflect on our variety of responses to Jewish memory and the complexity embedded within identity issues as American Jews today.
