Fifty years ago, the Maryland General Assembly said that you have the fundamental and inalienable right to a healthful environment. And that environmental right was to be pursued by the State as a matter of the highest priority. That never happened.
We have a chance – on this 50th anniversary of that law – to fix that.
Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin will share with us about the law (it is still there!), what happened to it, its potential and how we can reinvigorate it.
Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin founded the Maryland Campaign for Environmental Human Rights to ensure environmental health and equity for both present and future generations. Prior to that she served as the Jewish educator of the JCC of Greater Baltimore and the Director of the Coalition on Environment and Jewish Life.
