Neila Service

September 28, 2020
6:15 pm

Join us outside at The Meeting House as we come to the end of Yom Kippur. The service will also be on Zoom.

Closing Hour
“May the heart open even in the hour of its closing for the day draws to an end. The day turns, the sun turns away and a voice of slender silence rends the air-sound of a breaking heart, sound of the heart breaking open.”
                                                                                                                                                 — Marcia Falk

A thought. A reflection. A fragment. A poem.
A reading. A resonant moment.

As we move from prayer and introspection and turnings, feel free to contribute to our Neilah service with your own selection. CJC tradition has long held the intermingling of prayer and personal reflection as sacred.

If you would like to share a reading during Neilah, please email your selection to Rabbi Starr by Tuesday, September 15.

For those who choose to attend our outdoor service

– You must bring your own mask, your own chair and your own Kippah.
– You will be met by an usher and brought to your socially distanced spot on our lawn.
– We will all be masked for the whole service.
– We will refrain from shaking hands, hugging and kissing when we greet each other.
