Pirkei Avot – Jewish Ethics and Teachings

April 20, 2020
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

A Study and Conversation Group

Looking for a stimulating Jewish learning opportunity to enrich your days? Rabbi Ilyse Kramer, assisted by Judy and Marc Young, invite you to join a new study group devoted to examining the Talmudic tractate Avot. This pithy compilation of teachings, commonly known as Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Ancestors), is attributed to the great sages of the period immediately before and after the destruction of the first Temple. It is a treasure-house of ethical teachings for living a Jewish life. It is also a fascinating glimpse into how rabbinic Judaism as a religious civilization was invented on the fly by the most innovative minds of the generations following the eradication of the Temple-based sacrificial cult.
