DESCRIPTION:Join congregations Mishkan Torah\, Columbia Jewish Congregation
 \, Kol Halev and Oseh Shalom\, for a joint service at Oseh Shalom\, 7515 O
 live Branch Way in Laurel to commemorate the day. The service will be both
  in person and on Zoom.\n\nTisha B’Av\, the ninth day of the Jewish mont
 h of Av\, marks the destruction of the First and Second Temples in 586 BCE
  and 70 CE\, and the subsequent exile of the Jewish people. It’s a day o
 f fasting and mourning and has become a time to remember other great calam
 ities that have befallen the Jewish people.\n\nThe Book of Lamentations\, 
 (Eicha) which is read on Tisha B’Av \, recounts the devastation wrought 
 with the destruction of Jerusalem by Babylonia. While it is a day of mourn
 ing\, it is also a day to confront the dual challenges of hate and anti-Se
 mitism we face as 21st century Jews. It is also a time to reflect on the r
 esilience that has helped us meet those calamities and kept our people ali
 ve and flourishing for over\n3\,000 years.\n\nWe will begin with a short s
 ervice and the recitation of the Book of Lamentations. Please join us as w
 e mourn the tragedies that have befallen us and celebrate the spirit of re
 demption for us and the world. The room will be dimmed\, so bring a flashl
