What Is All This? The Current Situation in Israel

Rabbi Maurice Harris (RRC ’03) is Associate Director for Thriving Communities and Israel Affairs Specialist at Reconstructing Judaism in Wyncote, PA. Previously he served as Associate Rabbi and Head of School at Temple Beth Israel, a Reconstructionist congregation in Eugene, Oregon. While in Oregon he taught undergraduate courses called “American Jewish Cultures” and “Israelis and Palestinians” as an adjunct in the Judaic Studies program at the University of Oregon. Maurice is the child of a Moroccan-Israeli Jewish woman and an Ashkenazi American Jewish man, and he spent much of the summers of his childhood with his extended Moroccan-Israeli relatives in the Tel Aviv area. He is also the author of three books, including Moses: A Stranger among Us (Cascade, 2012) and Leviticus: You Have No Idea (Cascade, 2013).
