Hineni: CJC’s Caring Cooperative

An angel of Adonai called to him from heaven: “Abraham! Abraham!” And Abraham answered, “Hineni.”

[Bereishit 22:11]

In Torah, Hineni means here I am. It is the answer to a sacred call for action. For this reason, Hineni is also the name of CJC’s newest initiative – Hineni: CJC’s Caring Cooperative. Hineni envisions a kehillah [community] deeply-connected and uplifted through our mutual care for one other.

Members of Hineni are committed to stepping up to support their fellow CJC members in times of need. The Cooperative’s mission recognizes the covenantal relationships we share as members of CJC, and our dedication to co-creating a world [and a congregation] based in loving-kindness.

Members of Hineni are currently serving in the following ways:

  1. Bringing meals to members experiencing lifecycle events including, but not limited to, birth, adoption, death, and unexpected illness.
  2. Driving members to and from CJC-sponsored events.
  3. Engaging in check-in calls to members – to provide a listening ear and to help connect CJC members to further resources.
