10:00am, Services, Lunch & Learn immediately following services.
So many of us at CJC recognize and appreciate the time and effort Joe Bergstein and John Evans have put into leading Saturday morning services, especially throughout the COVID pandemic. During our Shabbat Morning Service we will honor their dedication given, assuring our services are open, inclusive, thoughtful and enriching.
Immediately following services, we present Dr. Andrea Molod, of NASA Goddard Space Center who will speak about different aspects of climate change, the connection to her group’s focus, the attribution to human activity and the implications for our own lives. Dr. Molod will explain such concepts as the Greenhouse Effect and Artic Amplification and cover some examples of present and predicted impacts of climate change across the globe: flooding and loss of marshland in Florida, melting of perma-frost in Russia, implications of sea level rise in Bangladesh, loss of fishing grounds in Alaska. Andrea will explain how her NASA research relates to critical climate issues.
